Mobile Infant

​

Overview

The Mobile Infant Program is planned to meet the needs of children from crawling to the first steps. We serve children from 6 months to approximately 12 months. The schedule in this room is mostly individualized by the child's needs with a goal of becoming more structured as they age. 

​

Physical Development 

  • Provides a safe environment for infants to exercise

  • Provides space for infants to climb and pull themselves up

  • Provides equipment for infants to grasp to aid in walking

  • Provides open spaces for infants to scoot, crawl, and push carts

  • Teachers further encourage physical development by expressing an interest in and acknowledging the infant's accomplishments

  • Rattles, teething toys, shape toys, and stacking objects available for infants to improve their Fine Motor skills

Language Development 

  • Infants are spoken to frequently throughout the day 

  • Teachers sing songs  and read stories to them

  • Teachers build upon the infant's vocabulary by talking about the foods they are eating, the things they see, objects they grasp, and they use the names of the other infants 

  • Baby sign language is used frequently for high interest words such as “milk” and “more”

Cognitive Development 

  • Provides a hands-on environment that invites learning

  • Infants are invited to explore and discover their environment

  • Infants begin to learn cognitive milestones  such as Cause and Effect

​

Social Development  

  • Infant schedules are individualized, which fosters the child’s security about their environment

  • Holding, hugging and one-on-one interaction between Teachers help build a trusting bond that they develop a sense of security
